My interest in mindfulness and yoga began my second year of undergrad when I randomly enrolled in a mindfulness practice course for college credits. Through the start of my own practice, I became curious about the use of mindfulness for mental health care and the science supporting it. This led to the development of my research on mind-body approaches for health that continues today. Concurrently, I sought reputable programs to become certified to safely offer mindfulness and yoga with a particular emphasis on trauma-sensitive approaches (listed below).
Since 2019, I have been facilitating mindfulness and yoga (Chair, Hatha, Restorative, Trauma-Sensitive) classes in-person and online. I have guided sessions for survivors of domestic and sexual violence, college students, medical students/residents, Silver Sneakers members, work organizations, research studies, and the general community. My facilitation style is gentle and invitational to empower participants to engage in the practice in ways that they decide are supportive in that moment. Through my unique and ongoing learning about mind-body practices from the intersection of art, science, and practice, I strive to hold accessible spaces for participants to utilize these strategies for wellbeing.
I earned my B.A. in English and Psychology from Bowling Green State University, my M.A. in Psychological Science from the University of Minnesota Duluth (Mind-Body Trauma Care Lab), and am currently studying Clinical Health Psychology at East Carolina University (Stress and Health Lab). For fun, I enjoy visiting bodies of water, beach combing, reading, painting, drinking tea, and cuddling with my adorable cockapoo puppy, Leo.
